Our History

As of the beginning of 2015 Erasmus University had never had an international, English-speaking theatre society, therefore some students from the cultural entrepreneurship Master program decided to change that, and founded WILDe. After the foundation, this group came to live thanks to all the people who decided to take part in this starting project as organizers, writers and actors. The first work carried out by WILDe was the adapted play: “An Ideal Husband” by Oscar Wilde, after whom our association has obtained its name.

2015-2016

In the academic year of 2015-2016, WILDe started its existence as an official organization and had accepted multiple new members into its ranks. That year, our organization has presented with its first original play: “WILD Youth” written by our member Roman Weber. You can watch the recording of the full play on YouTube.

Furthermore, the generation of 2015-2016 had a chance to present WILDe during the Eurekaweek and to announce the Erasmus community about the existence of our association!

2016-2017

In 2016-2017 our members have made a significant progress in expanding WILDe as an association. Starting from creating our current logo and finishing with bringing up multiple successful collaborations: organizing the first Zombie Walk event with our makeup artists, the Murder Mystery game with EUCSA, participating in the biggest art event of the year - the Cultural platform with SG Erasmus (theme: Seasons).

That year, WILDe also produced two long plays: an adaptation of “The Picture of Dorian Gray” edited by Florian Töpfer and “Masks” written by So Eun. Furthermore, we hosted our first movie challenges and had created two short films: “Paycheck” and “Counterweight”

2017-2018

Last year, the generation of 2017-2018 continued encouraging art development in Erasmus and brought multiple traditional productions to life: two long plays (the adaptation of “1oo” and “Down the Darkest Highway” by Florian Töpfer), a Short film “Fatuma”, the Zombie Walk event, the second Murder Mystery game with EUCSA and the Cultural Platform event (theme: La La Land).

Furthermore, WILDe joined forces with other associations and has hosted original events, such as the “Sukoon” play made in the aim of raising awareness the Syrian refugees’ stories together with Het Syrische comité. Or the theater workshop made for the current IB students visiting Erasmus. That year has brought many new people into our association, who are remaining the members of WILDe up until now!

Who we are

We are an international group of Erasmus students with sincere aspiration towards art. Our members come from various different backgrounds: from first year students to working people, who are simply interested in theater. From experienced actors, directors, producers to beginners, who just want to participate in artistic endeavors. We are based on initiative and we want to give everyone a chance to reach their highest potentials. Together we build a unique community of enthusiastic friends with shared passion towards theater and film.
